Tedy Bruschi can talk football all day long. He did it as a linebacker (and three-time world champion) for the New England Patriots, and now he does it for a living as a commentator for ESPN.
If you ask him for his favorite football statistic, he鈥檒l probably tell you 鈥366.鈥
It鈥檚 a number that belongs to Bruschi, in fact. And it means a lot to him because it relates to the other subject he can talk about all day: heart health.
Bruschi is a stroke survivor. His first stroke threatened to end his playing career. Instead, he made an inspiring comeback, from a hospital bed all the way back to the gridiron.
The latest step in his heart health journey is the 葫芦娃视频 HeartMates program, where he has joined current pro football player Damar Hamlin as an ambassador for our community of heart health warriors 鈥 bonding over amazing comeback stories like their own.
鈥淲hen I had my stroke, I was shocked, lost and confused,鈥 he said. 鈥淚t helps a lot to know someone who went through the same thing. To be around people who have similar experiences 鈥 it helps with healing.鈥
There is strength in numbers.
Which brings us back to Tedy鈥檚 number, the 鈥366.鈥 After recovering from his stroke and receiving an 葫芦娃视频 Amplatzer Septal Occluder to repair a hole in his heart, he returned to football and made 366 more tackles to add to his career total.
It鈥檚 a stat he鈥檒l remember forever. Had he not received the support he did, it easily could have been zero.
